Buckthorn Bust & Haul on Oct. 4

Posted

Just off the main path along our local riverfront lies a surprisingly beautiful and rare oak savanna and woodlands. Working with a local ecologist, volunteers have been tending this urban gem for years. Join your neighbors Oct. 4 at this annual Fall River Gorge Stewards volunteer event as they pull and haul invasive brush to protect the rare savanna and woodlands.

Tools and gloves will be provided. However, be prepared to work on steep slopes and uneven terrain. Due to the tools and terrain, this event is not suitable for small children. Capacity is limited and early registration is encouraged. Learn more via the Friends of the Mississippi River calendar listing at FMR.org, http://www.fmr.org/participate/ongoing/oak_savanna_restoration_2014-10-04, or contact FMR Registrar Amy Kilgore, akilgore@fmr.org, 651-222-2193 x31 to sign up and receive details and directions to the meeting spot.
