East Lake Library, 2727 E. Lake St., has numerous scheduled events in the next month:
-- First Pages for Teens: Creating Fictional Worlds will be held Thur., Sept. 4, 6–7:30pm. This event is for grades 7-12. How do you create fictional, but vivid and detailed, “other worlds” in fiction? Learn how celebrated authors have mastered the art of creating these alternate worlds where anything is possible, and how you can too! Register online or call 612-543-8425.

--“Genealogy Research: Occupational Trails” is planned for Thur., Sept. 25, 6:30–7:30pm. Registration required, ad register online or call 612-543-8425. Follow your ancestors' migration within the U.S. by using their occupational information. Learn about occupational archives from Sheila Northrop, co-president of Midwest Ancestor Research.

--“Paint It Green: See-D Mosaic” is planned for Sat., Sept. 13, 3–4:30pm. For K-grade 6. Create a mosaic from a variety of seeds from beans to lentils. Bring your seed art home in its own ready-made frame using an old CD case. Materials provided. Register online or call 612-543-8425.
--Homework Help is available every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday beginning Mon., Sat. 8 from 3:30-7:30pm, and continues through Nov. 20. Free in-person tutoring for K-12 students. No advance sign-up needed.

--Senior Surf Day is planned Fri., Sept. 19 and Fri., Oct. 24, 9:30–11:30am. Registration is required. Register online or call 612-543-8425. Learn about computer basics, how to navigate and search the Internet and how to access websites of interest to seniors. Get hands-on computer experience with help from representatives of the Senior LinkAge Line®.

--The Adult Book Club will meet Fri., Sept. 12, 10:30-11:30am. They will discuss “Thunder Bay” by William Kent Krueger.

--Family Storytime is held on Fridays from Sept. 19 through Nov. 21, 10:15-11:15am. This event is for children of all ages and their parent or caregiver. Talk, sing, read, write and play together in a format appropriate for young children. Share books, stories, rhymes, music and movement. 
--Baby Storytime is scheduled on Fridays from Sept. 19 through Nov. 21, at 11:15am. This event is for children from birth to 24 months and their parent or caregiver. Talk, sing, read, write and play together in a format designed especially for babies. Share books, stories, rhymes, music and movement.

-- Conversation Circles will Sundays through Nov. 30, 1-3pm. Non-native English speakers can practice their English and make new friends in an informal, volunteer-led setting, and learn about the library, too. -- Job Search Assistance is planned for every Tuesday in September (except Sept. 30), from 3-5pm. Are you seeking new employment or re-entering the workforce? Do you need help looking for a job, filling out applications or writing your résumé? Stop in for free one-to-one assistance with a job search representative.

--Childcare Group Storytime, Wed., Sept. 3, 10:30am. Talk, sing, read, write and play together in a format appropriate for the children in your care. Share books, stories, rhymes, music and movement.

--Teen Anime Club (for teens) meets Thur., Sept. 4, at 6-7:30pm. Watch anime, discuss manga and share artwork. Something different every time!

--“Make This: Nontraditional Comic Arts” is planned for Thur., Oct. 2, 6-8pm. Registration (required) begins Sep 4. Register online or call 612-543-8425. For grades 7-12. Think comics are only created with pens and India ink? Think again. Explore the range of media used to create contemporary comics including scratchboard, photocopies, collage and printmaking, and more traditional materials. No previous comic arts experience necessary.

--Book donations will be accepted at the library beginning Sept. 14 for the October book sale. Adult, teen and children's books, CDs and DVDs in good condition.
