Rally for Rakhma planned for Oct. 4

Posted

A “Rally for Rakhma” and stroll for those with memory loss will be held on Sat., Oct. 4 from 9:30am-12:30pm. Fun run, walk or bike ride around Lake Nokomis to show your support for those living with memory loss. You can register individually or make it more exciting by forming a team. They are hoping everyone will set a $100 minimum fundraising goal and encourage your family, friends, neighbors and coworkers to join you or support you in making a difference for those with memory loss. (Fundraising is not mandatory to attend the event but it is encouraged). There will be awards to the individuals and teams who have raised the largest funds.

Rakhma Homes provides housing for individuals with memory loss (Alzheimer’s disease or various forms of dementia). As a missions driven organization, they lose around half of their operations costs because they have no restrictions on admittance to those individuals on Medicare or elderly waver. They fundraise in order to make up these costs.

A commitment to participate, recruit and fundraise for “Rally for Rakhma” will make a huge impact on residents with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. All proceeds raised will go towards the purchase of a new wheelchair accessible bus.

Every registered individual and team, regardless of size or dollar amount raised is important to the success of this event. Registration fee is $25 and includes a T-shirt, snacks and water along the walk/run/bike. You can register at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/840224.
