Grants for businesses
The Lake Street Council announces that it has awarded grants to 10 businesses through the new Healthy Lake Street Fund, made possible through a financial gift from UnitedHealth Group. These grants will support reopenings, relocations, improvements and expansions for small businesses on Lake Street that support community health. Totaled, $750,000 will be distributed to the following grant recipients: Apex Dental Systems, Chicago Lake Dental, Comunidades Latinas Unidas En Servicio (CLUES), Diamonds Home Health Care, Midtown Eye Care, Healing Path Wellness Services PA, Neighborhood Development Center, Nicholas Zimet, L.Ac. Acupuncture, Premier Health of South Minneapolis and Seward Pharmacy.
In addition to this new fund, the Lake Street Council also created the We Love Lake Street Fund to assist small businesses on Lake Street in rebuilding and reopening after the civil uprising last year. The fund has provided more than $5.6 million in grants to over 350 different small businesses to date.

Fashion show May 1 benefits Simpson House
Experience couture designs from Dr. Zwack’s Gold Line Collection in a unique show that combines fashion, a live model art sketch, photoshoot, and open house on May 1 from noon to 3 p.m. Minneapolis designer Megan Zwack has showcased her collections at Fashion Weeks in New York, London and Milan. Join her as she brings her passion home for Fashion Week Minneapolis.
The cost is pay what you can. All proceeds will benefit Simpson Housing Services. Elisabeth Loeffler, director of Advancement and Communications from Simpson will share information about their efforts and what community members can do to make a difference.
