The Minneapolis Board of Education (School Board) is the elected policy-making body responsible for overseeing the district's budget, curriculum, personnel, facilities, and for selecting the Superintendent.

The Minneapolis School Board is made up of nine elected directors. Three are citywide and six from geographic districts, shared by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Election districts are different from school boundaries. As of June 13, 2022, the average annual pay for a school board member in Minneapolis is $62,959 a year.
