Metro Transit police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pick-up truck and a bus that occurred early Monday morning, May 11, 2026 in south Minneapolis.
Shortly before 4:30 a.m., Metro Transit police responded to the reported collision at the intersection of 10th Avenue South and East 38th Street.
According to a preliminary investigation, the bus was traveling eastbound on East 38th Street when it was struck by a southbound pick-up truck. The pick-up truck driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a stop sign, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.
The bus operator was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bus had not yet entered service and no passengers were onboard at the time of the collision.
As a result of the collision, the bus struck the front of a house on the northeast corner of the intersection. No one was inside the home at the time of the incident.
Metro Transit police are leading the investigation into the crash.
