Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarity is stepping down. Former federal prosecutor Anders Folk and State Representative Cedrick Frazier are campaigning to replace her.
Both are Democrats.
Folk believes Moriarity’s experimental “School of Justice” is a dangerous failure. In contrast, Frazier backs the Moriarity approach.
The Oct. 7 Star Tribune reported,“Folk has attacked Frazier because he’s never prosecuted a case” while “Frazier has attacked Folk for his history as a federal prosecutor." Frazier’s accusation doesn’t add up. Anders Folk was Minnesota’s top Justice Department career lawyer. He successfully led major prosecutions by teaming with every possible resource to convict sex traffickers, white-collar crooks, terrorists, violent gangs, A-47 gunmen, Medicare fraudsters and other felons. His real-world experience will ensure murder charges against the ICE thugs who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti will be airtight.
Anders Folk’s integrity and know-how are sorely needed in Hennepin County. His learning curve will be short. He will bring wisdom, new blood and foresight to a wobbly office.
It’s time to stop experimentation and focus instead on preventing victimization.
