On April 14, Emily Koski made the following statement and officially dropped out of the 2025 Minneapolis mayoral race:
After a lot of deep reflection, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to end my campaign for Mayor of Minneapolis.
I got into this race because I love this city—truly love it. But I’ve come to a hard truth: under the current political climate, I can’t be my authentic self and be a candidate in this race the way it demands.
I still believe this election is an opportunity for real change. So please: Look for the leaders that are bringing people together. Listen to who’s offering real, workable solutions and is committed to doing the hard, often unglamorous work of making city government actually work.
Then, volunteer, donate, and vote.
While I’m ending this campaign, I’m not walking away. I am simply shifting my course in how I authentically show up for the people of this city. I will keep showing up, because that’s what this moment—and this city—deserve: people who show up.
