Nokomis Beach Gallery owner Jolie Pies is selling the work of local artists to benefit those afraid to leave their homes right now. She was motivated to do this when she saw how immigrant artists and artists of color were suffering, she said. Her daughter made “iceboxes” with abolish ice graffiti on the front, and they filled the box with whistles. They also set up a rack of informational zines.

Pies created Valentine’s cards for neighbors as part of the Valentine’s Day luminary in East Nokomis. There will be luminaries from 28th to 34th along 50th Street starting at 6 p.m on Feb. 14, organized by the Nokomis East Neighborhood Association.
