Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) crews have completed installing the new signal system and reopened the ramps to and from Hwy 55/Hiawatha Ave. and Lake St.
Crews will continue work installing new signal systems on Lake St. at the 22nd Ave. and Snelling Ave. intersections later this month.
MnDOT representatives said, "We are seeing motorists running stop signs and not yielding to pedestrian and bike traffic in the area. Be sure to slow down and obey stop signs in the project area as crews complete this work."
Note that timeframes are all approximate, subject to change and weather and schedule permitting.
This project seeks to reconstruct the intersection of Hwy 55/Hiawatha Ave. and Lake St. in Minneapolis into a more pedestrian and bike-friendly layout with accessible sidewalks, ramps, and curbs.
