INDOOR URBAN FARM/HOUSING AT FORMER ROOF DEPOT PROJECT MAY NOT MOVE FORWARD

On Oct. 29, Cooperative Energy Futures and East Phillips Neighborhood Institute (EPNI) asked Minneapolis to approve the former Roof Depot purchase this fall to avoid losing federal solar tax credits. EPNI and the city have yet to approve a purchase agreement on the property for the proposed indoor urban farm. According to a statement jointly released: "While the city remains prepared to close, because the state legislature was unable to deliver the $5.7 million, it is unlikely EPNI will be able to meet the terms of the current agreement." The city and EPNI have been meeting to try to work out an agreement.
